What’s the difference between a quote and a paraphrase?

Answer

If you include in your writing the same wording as you find in a source you have read, you are quoting. You should enclose that wording in double quote marks “like this” (Use double quote marks to ensure TurnItIn sees your quoted sections).

You must also state the author’s name and the year of publication, and the page, if the source uses pages. For example: (Name, 2022, p.6)

If you describe what you have read in a source using your own wording and phrasing, you are paraphrasing. You should still give the author and year of publication.
