Why do I need to reference my College work?
Answer
There are many good reasons why you should reference your college work. It is good academic practice and will stop you from plagiarising another's writing (using someone's work without acknowledging the source).
When you submit an essay or report as part of your assessed college work, your lecturer will expect you to acknowledge the source of any quotes or paraphrases in your work.
Your lecturer will also want to know which sources you read as part of your research and background reading. Referencing allows your reader to see all this, as a bibliography provides the full details of all these sources.
