What is paraphrasing?

Answer

Paraphrasing is expressing someone else’s ideas in your own words. It allows you to show your reader that you understand the source you are paraphrasing, and can describe the ideas in it yourself.

You will need to use your own sentence structure and provide a cite (author, year) beside your paraphrase and the page number it is taken from. If your paraphrase is too close to the original, it risks being flagged by Turnitin as plagiarising.

Give the full details of the source in your bibliography.

You can see a good example of how to paraphrase on Cite Them Right.
